Our Messmate Timber Vanities are handcrafted in our Melbourne warehouse with materials sourced from a combination of managed forestry, reclaimed and recycled timber.
The advantages of timber are many. It is a natural product, non-toxic and sustainably sourced. Solid timber is an environmentally friendly material. Manufacturing timber products are one of the few industries that are carbon neutral. Timber is structurally sound and is easily reused or recycled. It is easily to work with, can be cut, drilled, shaped and prepared with far less steps than other processed building materials.
Our timber vanities feature 32mm thick benchtops and 18mm thick drawers and options for 2 drawers or 4 drawers. We use a fully adjustable metal sided drawer with concealed runners engineered to run silently with a self-closing, soft close action eliminating wobbles and banging drawers.
Hardwood timbers such as eucalyptus have natural oils that provide water resistance, however natural timber will fade, move and mark over time. The application of finishes ensures longer lasting protection to water, chemicals and general wear and tear.
To protect the timber from wear and tear we use a waterproof UV stabilised 2pack polyurethane matt lacquer, this enhances the finish and leaves a natural look providing a high level of long lasting protection with little maintenance required. We can also finish the timber in linseed oil if you wish to use a natural product. The linseed oil requires more maintenance but will still provide a decent level of protection and enhance the natural look.
Maintaining the quality of your Messmate Timber Vanity
Your timber vanity will need a very light sand and coat of oil when wear becomes evident.
Wiping down your vanity after exposure to steam and water splashes will also further the life of the timber.
Please ensure installation works are done professionally and a correct silicon sealant is applied to the wall junctions and tile joints. Water seepage, pooling, leaks will eventually damage the vanity as well as the structure to your home.
